Description

  • jade, glass, and ivory
comprising: a white and russet jade lychee and melon-form snuff bottle with jadeite stopper; a rounded rectangular sky-blue glass snuff bottle with matching stopper; a red overlay  glass chilong snuff bottle; and a green overlay white glass 'Yangzhou' snuff bottle depicting a pair of mandarin ducks in a lotus pond on one side and a pair of magpies on the other with a four-character inscription, with green and yellow glass stopper

Condition

The melon-form snuff bottle is in very good condition with the exception of minor rubbing of the surface and natural flaws of the stone. The blue glass snuff bottle has a horizontal line running across the stopper. The red overlay glass snuff bottle has its original stopper missing, the mouth rim has minute nicks and black spots. The surface is lightly scratched. The Yangzhou snuff bottle has a 0.2 x 0.1cm milky-white blemish near the lotus pond decoration. There is a 0.2 x 0.1cm chip to the mouth and other minor nicks along the edges and the stopper. The colour of the glass is of a slightly lighter tone compared to the catalogue illustration.
