- lapis lazuli
carved to one face with a bearded scholar followed by a young acolyte amidst jagged mountains issuing gnarled pine, the reverse with a deer lying recumbent on a rocky ledge under leafy shrubs, the stone of an intense blue colour suffused with creamy inclusions and silvery gold specks, with wood stand
Condition
The bottom right corner of the front face of the mountain is chipped (0.5 x 0.5cm). There is a minute chips (circa 0.1 x 0.1cm) to the pine clusters at the left and at the extremities of the carving. Aside from these and natural veins and nicks of the stone, the mountain is in good condition.
