carved in the form of a carp wrapped around the base with its tail clinging to the back of the cup, its head carved with a ferocious expression and bulging eyes clenched tightly to the front of the cup below a dragon headed handle suspending a loose ring, the sides carved in low relief with a taotie mask
Condition
There are a few minute chips to the carving, including a 2mm chip to the mouthrim and a 2mm nick to the tail. The overall condition is very good. The actual color of the piece is slightly more creamy than shown in the catalogue.
