Description

  • Enamel and bronze
each standing, one with head turned sharply to the left, the other to the right, the body brightly decorated with stylised birds and scrolls reserved on a turquoise ground, the detachable cover in the form of the wings, the eyes, beak and legs gilt

Condition

There are some small shallow chips to the enamels, especially below the chests, on the wings and above the feet of the birds, including a 0.4 cm chip next to the beak. Except for some typical wear to the gilding and expected tarnishing to the alloy, the overall condition of the pair is very good.
