mounted as a handscroll, written in ink on a woven silk brocade, the edict, an imperial promotion conferred upon an official named Zhou Xiang including praises for his wife, the text arranged in standard form reading from right to left in regular script (kaishu) and repeated in Manchu script reading from left to right, with imperial seals and dated to the fourth year of the Jiaqing period, corresponding to 1799

Condition

The overall condition is quite good, except for some foxing and insect holes.
