Lincoln"), drawn on the Springfield Marine & Fire Insurance Company, Springfield, 1 February 1860, accomplished by Lincoln in favor of Wallace & Bailhache for $5, printed in blue ink on paper (2 1/2 x 7 5/8 in.; 66 x 192 mm) by Richards & Smith, marine vignette at left border; neat cancellation slits.
Catalogue Note
William Wallace and William Henry Bailhache were political allies of Lincoln. Bailhache was one of the publishers of the Illinois State Journal, which closely covered the Lincoln-Douglas debates. Bailhache also printed pamphlet editions of several of Lincoln's addresses, including the Cooper Union speech.
