Autograph manuscript of ``Apple Basket'', a working manuscript of the complete 18-measure piece, unsigned, written in pencil, in piano score, with erasures, on 12-stave King Brand Paper, 1 page folio, (12 1/2x 9 1/2 in.; 318 x 241 mm), no place or date, probably 1940s; some creasing and soiling, two small stains in right-hand margin and small tear with a little paper-loss not affecting text.

Autograph manuscripts by Ellington are uncommon. Although instrumental parts for this piece exist at the Smithsonian Institute, they are in a scribal hand, and we believe that this is the only surviving autograph for this work.
