Catalogue Note

A fine group of Garth Williams illustrations for the 1953 edition of a 1932 Laura Ingalls Wilder classic.  Over a number of years, Williams illustrated popular re-issues of Wilder's beloved series of stories which began with Little House on the Prairie.  The present collection includes highly finished drawings for illustration which appeared on pages 25, 34, 57, 63, 206 of the published book.  The sixth drawing, depicting a boy seated on a stool, was not used.  The rough preliminaries depict girls playing with dolls and making a bed; and the horse-powered grain separator described in chapter 12.
