First edition. This wide-ranging and well illustrated survey of Russia's artistic heritage is sub-divided into sections on architecture (volumes 1–3), sculpture (volume 5) and painting (volume 6). Volume 4 was never completed. An extended 13-volume edition appeared between 1953 and 1969.
