Catalogue Note

Views and portraits. To W.B. Corke, Turner writes about  his engravings of views of the Rhine. He explains: "you most certainly declined extending the subjects of the Rhine beyond twelve but an application has been renewed and therefore I  do more particularly wish  you to give me your ultimate decision relative to it!! Take a month to consider . . . My only object in writing is that if you eventually decline that you cannot but here after say that every opportunity was offered before any other." In his undated letter to Mr. Peckongale, Turner requests his aid in securing commitments for portraits for Mr. and Mrs. Ryman.
