Fine autograph letter signed ("P. Cézanne"), 2 pages (6 ¼ x 8 ½ in.; 160 x 215 mm), in French, Pontoise, 11 December 1872, to Camille Pissarro with an autograph note signed by Lucien Pissarro, Camille's son, on the recto of the integral blank; light browning.
Catalogue Note
Friends and family. Cézanne reports he has missed his train after visiting Pissarro's son Lucien and will thus be a day late: "C'est vous dire d'une façon d'etonnée que j'ai manqué le train. Inutile d'ajouter que je suis jusqu'à demain mercredi votre hôte." He then notes it has been requested that Mrs. Pissarro bring from Paris "la farine Nestlé pour le petit Georges et les chemises de Lucien." On the recto of the integral blank, Lucien Pissarro pens a note to his father of the integral blank requesting "une boite à couleurs."
A charming letter demonstrating the close friendship between Cézanne, Pissarro and their families.
