Catalogue Note
First edition, second issue with the first complete edition of the poems which inaugurated the Romantic Movement in English literature and poetry. First published in Bristol, that edition did not sell and the remaining copies were sold to Arch who sold them with only the title-page changed. The 1800 edition (which is the second edition of the first volume, and the first edition of the second), is the first to contain Wordsworth's famous preface, in effect the manifesto for the English Romantic Movement.
