Catalogue Note

First appearance of Poe's "Raven."

Heartman and Canny contend that the American Review publication, in number II dated February 1845, takes priority over the appearance of the poem in the 29 January 1845 issue of the Evening Mirror, insofar as the February installment of the American Review was to be issued in early January.
