Catalogue Note

Painted circa 1918, the present work belongs to Joaquín Mir's series of paintings depicting La Mogoda and its grounds near Barcelona. The series, executed from 1915-1919, was among Mir's most celebrated, comparable only with his Torrent de Pareis series. La Mogoda estate belonged to Antonio de Güell, third Marquis of Comillas and Earl of Güell, who was very close friends with the artist.
