E. Victor, Paris (publisher of the sartirical Parisian magazine L'Assiette au Beurre, for which Galanis worked as an illustrator between 1903 and 1911. It is likely that the present work was executed for the magazine, and remained in Victor's collection, until it was sold by his heirs)

Condition
The sheet has been laid on panel. There are fine strokes of retouching visible under ultraviolet light, notably in the upper right and along the lower edge, and two tears with associated retouching: one c. 28cm diagonally through the table and another diagonal c. 24cm in the background. This work is ready to hang.
