Catalogue Note

Isabella Mayson married Samuel Beeton in July 1856, and these letters are full of preparations for their future home in Pinner (just north-west of London) as well as concern at Samuel's long hours working as a publisher. This combination of mutual affection, close collaboration, and hard work were key to the later success of Mrs Beeton's Book of Household Management. Letters by Mrs Beeton are rare at auction.
