various sizes (160 x 150mm. etc), all in larger mounts, bound up in a folio volume with specially printed title page ("Drawings at Farnley Hall, Yorkshire, by J.M.W. Turner, R.A. Copied by Ellen Armytage, 1888") and contents leaf, extra copy of the contents leaf loosely inserted (apparently with some auction prices in pencil, repaired), green crushed morocco gilt by Zaehnsdorf, spine in six compartments, all edges gilt,  slipcase, 1888, some very minor offsetting and spotting, slipcase slightly worn; together with: A Catalogue of the Oil Paintings and Water Colour Drawings, and Sketches in Water Colour, by J.M.W. Turner...in the possession of F.H. Hawkes...of Farnley Hall.... Leeds: J. Catalogue Note

Lady Ellen Armytage (1841--1890) married the 6th baronet of Kirklees, George John Armytage, on 11 May 1871. She was the daughter of the Rev. Asycough Fawkes, the tenth child of the Yorkshire landowner, M.P., and artistic patron Walter Fawkes, of Farnley Hall, near Otley. Fawkes -- related to Guy Fawkes of the Gunpowder Plot--was an intimate friend and early patron of J.M.W. Turner, assembling a celebrated collection of the painter's works.
