Description

  • Series of three autograph letters signed, and two photographic postcards, to the actress Margaret Halstan (1879-1967)
  • ink on paper
comprising two flirtatious early letters ("...How could you be so absurd as to go and engage yourself? - If I'd thought you wanted to get married I'd have married you myself long ago...") discussing her acting ("...if I had my way I would take you out of the nice young lady business and fling you into the most difficult heavy parts on the stage...") and theatrical news, one later letter with revised lines for a part, probably relating to Too Good to be True, and postcards being photographic portraits to Halstan and Shaw (1932), in total 7 pages, 4to and 8vo, 24 January 1905 to 24 August 1932, one letter splitting at folds, one letter torn in three and crudely repaired with adhesive tape
