  • Collection of nine awards and certificates (in gold and other metals, together with plaques, laminated sheets etc) given to Guinness by various academies, comprising
  • METAL
award for Best Supporting Actor in Star Wars, 1977, as voted "By the People of the United States and Canada Your Choice for the Oscars"); an award given at the 1958 Venice Film Festival (Mostra Internazionale d'Arte Cinematografica) "...Per la migliore 'Interpretatione Maschlde' (probably for The Bridge Over the River Kwai); the Gala Tribute Award presented by the Film Society of Lincoln Center, New York (saluting Alec Guinness, 27 April 1987); the Honorary Golden Bear Award for Guinness's "Contribution to the Art of Film", presented at the Berlin International  Film Festival 1988;  a "The Special Award" presented at the Laurence Olivier Awards 1988; a "Lifetime Achievement Award" presented by the European Film Academy in Berlin on 8 November 1996; the New York Film Critics award for "The Best Performance of 1957" (Bridge over the River Kwai); the Broadcasting Press Guild Television Award for Best Actor, 1979 (Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy) and the  Hollywood Foreign Press Association Certificate of Nomination for Award for Best Supporting Actor (Star Wars, 1977)

Sir Alec Guinness was a multiple award-winner for his many accalimed stage, film and television roles over his long career. This included an Oscar for Best Actor in 1957 for his performance in The Bridge over the River Kwai, an Honorary Oscar in 1978 for the art of screen acting and a BAFTA in 1980 for Best Actor in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, as well as numerous further awards and BAFTA, Oscar and other nominations.
