Catalogue Note

An autograph letter signed by the Shakespeare bibliographer Henrietta C. Bartlett (Old Lyme, Connecticut, 16 April 1948), apparently to a previous owner or relative of a previous owner, is loosely inserted ("...Thank you for your prompt reply about the Hamlet, 1703, which was the only Shakespeare quarto credited to your brother in the Census of Shakespeare's Plays in Quarto, 1594--1709...").

There are two different issues or editions of this 1703 quarto, one with (as here) the reading "Barnardo" in the last line of B1r , and another with "Bornardo". There are numerous other differences in the text and punctuation. The present copy does not conform exactly with any of the copies listed on ESTC.
