Writing of a visit to Beatrix Potter in 1921, Anne Carroll Moore describes browsing through Potter's portfolios in Castle Cottage. She was told she could 'choose any one you think your children in New York would like' and stated 'when I chose a small watercolour of rabbits playing in the snow with their sleds, Beatrix Potter was reminded of sitting out in the scorching summer sunshine painting snow scenes for The Tailor of Gloucester' (see Enid and Leslie Linder's The Art of Beatrix Potter (1972, p. xvii).
