Condition

This work is in good condition overall. There are scattered soft creases in the canvas throughout. The canvas is not taught. There is a 4 inch vertical indentation 17 inches from the upper left corner. There is scattered flaking of the pigment, most pronounced on the right half of the composition. There are scattered pinpoint accretions. Unframed.

Robert Arthur Goodnough painted this work in memory of the 9th Street Art Exhibition of May 1951, which included work by Goodnough.  This landmark show, curated by Leo Castelli, marked the introduction of the New York School.
