Condition
This work is in very good condition overall. There are a few scattered areas of colored pigment from time of execution in the artist's studio. There are slightly raised abnormalities in the surface primarily in the upper right corner and on the right edge, resulting from pressing against fine particle debris on the wall or board used as support by the artist at the time of execution. There is a light darkening around the edges overall, and along the top edge, there are two areas of adhesive residue from an earlier mounting located 6 ½ - 7 ¼ in. from the top left and right corners, with a very small tear adjecent to the right area. Along the edges of the lower left corner, there is a 1 in. loss and two tiny knicks. Along the top edge, 5 ¾ in. from the right corner, is a very small hole in the vellum and there is a ½ in. horizontal tear located 3 ¼ in. down from the top left corner. There are scattered small brown stains, the largest of which is located 9 ¼ - 9 ½ in. from the left and 8 5/8 – 8 7/8 in. from the bottom. There are a few soft creases in the vellum, primarily in the top center and 27 ½ - 29 ½ in. from the bottom and 12 – 13 ¾ in. from the right. The vellum is hinged at intervals to ragboard and framed in a gilded wood strip frame behind Plexiglas.
