Condition

Colour: The colours in the catalogue illustration are fairly accurate although the overall tonality is slightly warmer in the original and the illustration fails to convey the three dimensional sculptural nature of the piece. Condition: This work is in very good condition. As to be expected with a work of this nature, close inspection reveals some very minor variations in the surface quality in places throughout, which are inherent to the nature of the medium.
"In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective, qualified opinion. Prospective buyers should also refer to any Important Notices regarding this sale, which are printed in the Sale Catalogue.
NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF BUSINESS PRINTED IN THE SALE CATALOGUE."

Catalogue Note

"I am trying to fold architectural space into the body or the body into architecture, and this dialectic between space that is articulated by architecture and space as experienced by the body has always been a part of my work." (The artist in conversation with Ralph Rugoff and Jacky Klein in Antony Gormley's Studio, 10 January 2007 in: Anthony Vidler, Susan Stewart, W.J.T Mitchell , Eds., Antony Gormley : Blind Light , London 2007,  p. 47)
