Excellent overall condition. Very nice dark brown patina, photograph too light. A few very minor scratches to the surface. The candelabres are cast in few separate pieces. Very decorative bronzes

Probablement l'ultime création de Barye, cette paire de candélabres réutilise deux groupes d'animaux indépendants : Milan emportant un lièvre (dont la première édition date environ de 1874) et Cerf dépouillant ses bois et daine et faon (vers 1857). L'ornementation du pied et celle des branches correspond au mélange cher à Barye de styles grec et gothique, qu'il associe dans de nombreuses créations. Les fontes anciennes du vivant de l'artiste sont extrêmement rares : il existe sans doute moins de dix tirages d'époque de ce modèle.
