Condition
Very good condition overall with some surface dirt at several places. A few minor chips to the flowers in her hair, with some minor restoration to one leaf and one flower. The garland to her proper right ear appears to have been restored. A few minor chips to the flowers on her chest, as well as a few minor lacks to the lower edges of the base.

Catalogue Note
Modèle très rare dans l'œuvre de l'artiste, Carpeaux a créé ce portrait en hommage à sa fiancée Amélie de Montfort qui deviendra son épouse en 1869. Créé juste avant ses noces, ce buste a été édité à partir de 1874 dans l'atelier de Carpeaux et existe dans plusieurs variantes avec bijoux ou sa chevelure retombant dans la nuque.
