Condition

Illustration is slightly too red, the velvet for example is more brown. The seats: stable structure. One patched restoration to the Egyptian musician. The harp needs to be refixed. Velvet in fine condition. The console: good overall condition. The right side of the frame is slightly twisted, as visible on the image, but probably since the execution of the frame. The blue plaster top on the console with some cracks and old restoration. Wood worm in places. Very few chips to the painting. The stand: few scratches in places and minor cracks. The shelf: on each side of the top frise, one small wood piece needs to be restuck. Few cracks in places. Very decorative set in good overall condition.

Cet ensemble constitue un bel exemple du goût éclectique qui règne à la fin du XIXe siècle en Europe, et en particulier en Italie : sphinx, char d'Osiris et harpiste sont ici prétextes à évoquer une Egypte antique de fantaisie, tout en conservant les formes classiques et confortables du mobilier occidental.
