A GILT-BRONZE DOUBLE VASE SEAL MARK AND PERIOD OF QIANLONG

Estimate
1,500,000 - 2,000,000 HKD
bidding is closed

Description

formed from two conjoined ovoid vases with one side touching and sharing a common wall on the interior, one vase slightly taller than the other, crisply cast in high relief with a pair of animated  five-clawed dragons clambering around the vases in pursuit of a 'flaming pearl', all reserved on a ruyi cloud ground, the base of the taller vase cast with a six-character reign mark

Condition

The overall condition is very good, apart from some tarnishing and wear to the gilding, as well as some typical dents to the body. There is a 1.5 cm hole to the interior wall between the two vases, possibly as a result of corrosion.
