Description
each with rounded sides supported on a slightly tapering foot, the centre of the interior painted with red pomegranates borne on a green leafy stem rising from a rock, the cavetto further decorated with pomegranates, plums and grapes, the exterior similarly painted with multicolour fruits, the underside inscribed in underglaze blue with a six-character apocryphal Chenghua mark within a double-circle
Condition
The overall condition of the pair is quite good, except for some iron spots and stained burst air bubbles. The largest burst air bubble is of 0.2 cm only. There are some minor surface scratches, but most of the enamels are well preserved. The dishes have some firing cracks to the exterior, with the largest one measuring about 1.3 cm. One dish has a 0.4 cm shallow ground chip to the mouthrim, while the other has some glaze frits to the foot.
