A small cinnabar-lacquer cabinet Qing Dynasty, Qianlong period
Estimate
300,000 - 500,000 HKD
bidding is closed
Description
of rectangular form with four doors and one drawer, supported on four feet, the doors and drawer carved with five panels each enclosing figures in a mountainous landscape reserved on a dense geometric ground and framed by a key-fret band, the doors set with a small gilt-bronze latch pull and hinges, the narrow sides similarly carved with a wan-diaper ground, framed along the edges with a key-fret border, the interior lacquered in black and fitted with two diaper-ground drawers below a fixed shelf
Condition
The overall condition is good. There are losses to the corners on the extremities and corners of the drawers and doors. The feet have some loss of lacquer and the back right foot is missing the gilt-tipped feet (so the cabinet leans a little if it is not stablized with something under the shorter foot). There is a bit of loss of lacquer on the aprons on three sides. The interior is in good condition with the drawers and black lacquer in good overall condition. The lacquer is a bit dry, but can be cleaned up and polished. The carving is in very good condition.
