Description

well potted of ovoid form, elegantly rising to a broad rounded shoulder below a slightly lipped mouth, the exterior densely painted with undulating stylised lotus scrolls, beneath a border of matching design at the shoulder, all between bands of upright stylised leaves around the mouth and foot, the recessed base inscribed in underglaze blue with a six-character reign mark

Condition

The jar is covered with a network of cracks, including a restored hairline of approx. 12.5 cm from the mouth, as well as a faint hairline of approx. 15 cm from the body extending to the footrim. The base is suffused with a network of russet-brown crackles. The jar is densely decorated in brilliant shades of cobalt blue.
