Description

the shallow flaring sides rising from a slightly tapering foot, the interior painted with five coral-red bats in flight, the exterior colourfully enamelled with stylised lotuses and anemones borne on foliate scrolls, all reserved on a bright lime-green ground, between pendant ruyi heads at the rim and pink petals springing from the foot, the underside inscribed with a six-character reign mark in underglaze blue

Condition

One of the dishes has a shallow chip of about 1.2 cm to the rim, and a short firing crack of about 0.3 cm to the base. Apart from some minor kiln grits and iron spots, the overall condition of the pair is quite good. Most of the enamelling is well preserved.
