Catalogue Note
These figures were often completed with clothing and embellishments. Carved wooden figures served various functions in Naga culture, from providing models for larger scale sculptures to preparation for weddings and war. Related figures from the Konyak and Sema tribes in the collection of the Pitt-Rivers Museum, Oxford, are illustrated in Jacobs 1990, pp.200-2.
