Catalogue Note
This striking group of earrings adopts a style reminiscent of cubist sculpture. The tradition dates from at least as early as the 19th century and was produced using a variety of materials (Welch 1985, p.115, no.70). A pair of these earrings in gold are in the Victoria and Albert Museum, inv. no. IS 5-1986 (illustrated in Stronge, Smith and Harle 1988, p.66, no.59).
