Catalogue Note
The five examples of marbled paper are as follows:
A: A single page of marbled paper, with blue border, India, 18th-19th century. The reverse bears several inscriptions in Persian, mostly consisting of verses in nasta'liq script, and an inscription in devanagari.
B: A bifolium of marbled paper with Persian verses written in shikasteh script on the verso, including the date [1]192 (1778), Persia, circa 1192/1778.
C: A page of marbled paper with two couplets from a qasida of Yusif ibn Muhammad ibn Yusif al-Tawziri known as Ibn al-Nahwi (d. 513/ 1119-20), Persia, 18th-19th century.
D: A single page of marbling on European paper with a watermark reading "Galaina" (?), probably Italy, 19th-20th century.
E: A single page of marbled paper on European paper, probably Italy, 19th-20th century.
