Two illustrated Persian manuscript folios and an unfinished illustrated folio from a Qajar manuscript, ink, opaque watercolour and gold on paper, text in nasta'liq script

Catalogue Note

The folios are as follows:
A: Two illustrated folios from a manuscript of Persian poetry. The text has not been identified, but refers to a prince and a beautiful maiden. The miniatures are painted in a provincial Safavid style depicting a prince and a companion out hunting on horseback and a prince and princess seated in a pavilion near a stream.
B: A folio from a Qajar manuscript of the Shahnameh of Firdawsi bearing two unfinished miniatures drawn in red ink. One scene shows Tus with his army coming across Kay-Khusraw on an elephant. The other shows Tus and Gudarz before Kay-Khusraw (represented by a likeness of Fath Ali Shah Qajar).
