Catalogue Note

This page comes from an album made in the library of the ruler of Khurasan, Sultan Husayn Khan Shamlu, at Herat in 1007/1598-9, and bears an inscription in gold in the central panel to that effect. The poetry includes extracts from the work of Awhadi (d.1298), Khwaja Hassan (d.1328), Ahli Shirazi (d.1535), Abd al-Razzaq (13th century), and Zamiri (d.1578). It originates from the same album as lots 50, 51, 52, and 54. For a fuller description of this album and its origin see lot 50.
