Catalogue Note

This copy of the divan of Hafiz begins with a long preface composed during Sultan Husayn Bayqara's rule in Herat by the order of his son Prince Sultan Faridun in 907 AH/1501-02 AD. A note at the end of the manuscript states that it was purchased for Haydar Khan Sardar, son of Sardar Rahmdel Khan for 350 tumans on the first day of Ramadan. The work ends with two benedictory couplets by Salman Savaji in large Nasta'liq script..
