Description

  • Wood, tortoise shell, ivory, mother of pearl
of rectangular form on a bracketed wooden base, the sloping hinged lid mounted with an arched, lobed, wooden plaque featuring a silver-engraved dedication, surrounded by a wood and ivory inlay decoration of arabesques and split-leaf palmettes, the lid with a chequered background consisting of alternating mother-of-pearl and tortoiseshell square inlays, the sides decorated with roundels composed of inlaid polygonal star motifs and a geometric pattern in the background

Condition

In overall good condition, with slight losses to inner lining, as viewed.
