Description

  • Tinned-copper
of hemispherical form with a slightly everted rim, standing on a splayed foot, the exterior with an incised band of calligraphy around the rim decorated with cartouches of scrolling vines and roundels containing various animals, between two smaller bands of scrolling palmettes, the bottom of the foot with an inscription and stamps

Condition

In overall good condition, with some discoloration due to ware, consistent with age, as viewed.

bandah-ye shah-e velayat zaman
'The servant of the King of Trusteeship, Zaman'

Original owner's name (under the base) has been crossed out, possibly 'Its owner Ibra[him] .... Khwaja'

A few later owners' names (stamped and not all clear) are:  Muhammad 'Ali, Muhammad ... and .... Baqir and one incised as Sabir.
