Description

  • Textile
consisting of five tiraz textile fragments mounted and framed, as four fragments are enriched with a single band of decorative inscription, the other three are colourful, each featuring roundels depicting stylised animals in a geometric design

Condition

All four fragments in fair condition with slight discoloration and minor gaps within two fragments.

In blue, possibly, repetition of the word yumn 'Good-fortune' in negative.

Polychrome in Kufic, repetition of: al-mulk li'llah 'Sovereignty is God's'

Polychrome in cursive:  Qur'an, chapter LXI (al-Saff) part of verse 13.

In blue, repetition of one word, undeciphered.
