Arabic manuscript on paper, 4 lines to the page, written in Thuluth script in black ink, verses separated by leafy gold florets, a corner panel filled with scrolling polychrome flowers, ruled in gold, laid down on an album page with outer borders flecked with silver

Condition

In generally good overall condition, ink bold and illumination bright, album page with some wear, as viewed.

Catalogue Note

Ibrahim Afif Efendi (d.1767)

Born in Istanbul, Ibrahim Afif Efendi studied calligraphy under the supervision of court calligrapher Habli Huseyin Efendi (d.1744). Ibrahim Afif's style has almost been united with his son in law Deli Osman Efendi (d.1805) who used to sign his works mentioning his name; "Osman, son-in-law of Afif". He died in 1767.
