Description

  • Gouache heightened with gold ink on paper
Gouache heightened with gold on paper, depicting a figure sitting roasting meat on a spit beside a stream in a green valley within a rocky outcrop, with attendents and observers standing by, 7 lines to the page in 4 columns, written in nasta'liq script in black ink within cloudbands against a gold ground sprinkled with polychrome flowes, intercolumnar rules filled with scrolling flowers, margins ruled in colours and gold, reverse with 25 lines of text on gold-sprinkled paper with ensuite decoration

Condition

In reasonably good overall condition, some areas of flaking, colours vivid and gold bright, outer margins clean, as viewed.
