En 1952, un médecin et son épouse quittent le sud de la France pour s'installer dans une maison au bord de la mer en Bretagne. Située dans un écrin de verdure, la maison est repensée par Jean Royère auquel l'épouse donne carte blanche pour qu'il y apporte gaité et lumière. Il commence par reconstruire les trois cheminées de la maison et recouvre les murs de raffia naturel puis s'inspire des couleurs environnantes (plafonds verts prairie et moquette bleue ciel) pour l'ensemble de la maison et du mobilier qu'il conçoit spécialement. Restée dans la maison depuis leur origine, les meubles et objets présentés des lots 68 à 73 sont un rare témoignage resté encore intouché/intact de l'oeuvre de Jean Royère.

In 1952 a doctor and his wife left their home in the south of France for a new life on the coast of Brittany. Surrounded by nature, they sought out the designer Jean Royère and gave him free rein to remodel and redecorate their new house. Royère started by covering the walls with raffia and redesigning the three fireplaces. His colour scheme was influenced by the natural surroundings of the property, but in reverse - a sky blue tone was used for the carpet and the ceilings were painted green like the fields. He then furnished the whole home with specific pieces of furniture and objects that he had designed, transforming the home into a work of art.

Bon état général. Quelques petits manques de rotin sur la partie basse de la base du guéridon présenté au premier plan de la photo, visible au catalogue ; une reprise du cannage sur l'arriere de la base d'un des fauteuils en rotin, visible au catalogue également (fauteuil de gauche au premier plan), une autre pus petite (environ 3 cm) à l'avant de l'autre fauteuil. Les tissus des coussins un peu décolorés. Quelques traces d'oxydation au tain du miroir et légères traces brunes sur une des barres en osier, à la partie supérieure. Good overall condition. Some lacks to the rattan (visible to the catalogue) on the occasional table shown on the front illustration. Also a restoration to the base of one armchair, the one shown on the front row, on the left handside of the image, to the base ; another small restoration to the base of the second armchair of identical design of 2 cm long. The fabrics are a little faded. Some oxidizing to the mirror and a few dark stains to the upper part of the frame.
