Catalogue Note
This carpet was originally placed in Jingren Gong or Palace of Great Benevolence, located on the east side of the Forbidden city. Built around 1420 by the Yongle Emperor the Jingren Gong became the Emperors' concubines residence during the Ming and the Qing Dynasties. The Emperor Kangxi was born and lived there temporarily before it became the residence of the Emperors' consorts.
