Catalogue Note
Cette très rare et ancienne massue de guerre, dont nous ne connaissons pas d'exemple strictement comparable, évoque dans son mouvement arqué et dans l'extrémité en pointe semblant éclore de la tête foliacée, certaines massues de type totokia ("pinapple club"). Elle se distingue également par la qualité du décor ornant le manche : envahi de motifs géométriques profondément gravés et animé par des bandes de ligatures en fibres de coco très finement tressées, agencées à intervalles réguliers. La richesse de l'ornementation est mise en valeur par la profonde patine nuancée, brun rouge.
