Catalogue Note

Cette élégante statue Lobi se distingue par la rareté de son style et la qualité de sa sculpture. La remarquable dynamique des volumes - dont le rythme serré joue sur la juxtaposition des plans - est accentuée par le mouvement ample du bras portant la main gauche à la bouche - geste qui évoquerait "le sentiment de crainte pour l'interdit enfreint" (Bognolo, 2007 : 133). cf. Bognolo (idem : 131, n° 10) pour une statue stylistiquement très apparentée, collectée en 1957 dans le village de Koro fondé par les Gan et habité par des familles Birifor-Lobi, coiffée du même bonnet en tissu "typique des anciens chefs religieux Gan". Bois très dur à patine sacrificielle, sombre.
