Description

Sister of George Jouve, Denyse Gatard started to learn pottery from him in 1945 after studying at the Grande Chaumière in Paris. While she created jewellery for the fashion world, she also made pottery pieces in her Parisian workshop or in Aix-en-Provence with her brother in the 1950s. With him, she shared the same inspirational sources, techniques, and glazes. The asymmetrical and elated forms of her creations as well as their delicacy give her work a unique grace.
