Condition

The colours are fairly accurate in the catalogue illustration, although the colours, especially the yellow, are more vivid in the original. This work is in excellent condition. Under UV light, there is no evidence of any retouching.

[Les Mires] prirent commencement en février 1983, avec des fonds jaunes - d'un jaune appuyé dont je ne pus me défendre qu'il me fasse penser à celui qu'on voit à des décors chinois. Si bien qu'il m'entra dans la tête que de telles peintures pourraient servir d'enseignes à des boutiques de rues populaires de Chine. Ou bien encore (...) qu'elles auraient bien fait des bannières dont les mandarins faisaient précéder leur cortège.
