Description
- Christ and the Adulteress
- indistinctly signed Carlo Al.../fecit and dated 1874 u.l.
- oil on canvas, unframed
- 75 x 100.5 cm.
Condition
The actual painting is greener and less red in tone. The canvas has a stable wax relining. There are no damages apparent. There is a thin vertical surface scratch in the elderly figure on the left. The paint layer appears well preserved. Inspection under UV light is largely impeded by the varnish layer, but does reveal a few tiny scattered retouchings in some of the figures. The varnish is slightly dirty. This lot is offered unframed.
